“Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.” You cannot go wrong quoting The Who, and you will not do wrong getting behind this fresh, exciting, and defending section title, Cougar Bowling Team! The boys’ season was kicked off by senior, Josh Weimer’s thunderous cannonball (179). Sprinkle in sophomore, Lukas Prepelka’s opening 189 and junior, Andrew Engleka’s 178, and the season’s tone was set with a 72 pin, Game 1 win!

Canevin, being the tough competition they always are, edged our battling Cougars in Game 2, with a slim 4 pin difference. However, Andrew Engleka displayed some individual talent by netting 205 pins. It should be mentioned his competition was fierce on his paired lane, as Canevin’s Mike Smith scored a 254. This all set the stage for a Game 3 that would prove to be a welcomed, nail-biting test for our Cougars.

If you ask student-athlete and fan favorite Mr. Stegel about Game 3, he will tell you about his early prediction of an impending 10th frame showdown. With Canevin’s ace (Smith) continuing his relentless onslaught, it would take all five Cougars to take his squad down. Senior, Sam Bigham’s and freshman Rylan Henry’s varsity debuts were exactly what the “spin doctor” ordered! The 10th frame showdown was capped by our Cougars making their marks, and getting it done!

Some may ask, “What about our girls?” They will tell you they would rather win quietly and continue to improve their averages. I must mention Audrey Robb’s personal best 172 (sorry Audrey)! As always, our girls represented Cougar Nation professionally and respectfully!

Come cheer on our Cougars tomorrow @ 3:30 (Noble Lanes) as we face a well-coached Montour Spartan team!
