Carrick High School vs Carlynton High School

Carlynton hosted non section opponent Carrick High School tonight. It was senior recognition night and what better night to get the Cougars first win!

For majority of the game the Cougars dominated, hustling hard and giving it their all. First year player Gwen Kalimon was the first to find the back of the net on a hard break away. Later in the first half Sophomore Garin O’Leary added another point to the score when she took a long shot from around the twenty yard line. At half time the Cougars kept the Raiders scoreless. 2-0.

The Raiders came out strong to start the second half. But the Cougars retaliated and Freshman Sheyla Tuapante scored on a cross. With about 15 minutes left of the game, star goal keeper Sara MacMurdo left the net for the first time all season to play the field. MacMurdo is just as talented on the field as she is in the net. After this switched occurred Carrick was able to score on the temporary goal keeper for the Cougars, Megan Henke.

Carlynton secured their first win of the season against Carrick. The Cougars spirits were high this evening and we hope they can take that into their next game this Saturday at home against Ellis.
